In its latest collaboration with the University of Guyana and the Ministry of Education, GUYDRONES hosted a mini exhibition at its La Bonne Intention office, exposing a number of children between the ages of 10 and 14 to the world of drones and drone technology.
Vice President and Chief Pilot of GUYDRONES, Ershad Mahamad, told News Source that the visit by the young enthusiasts on Wednesday forms part of a range of activities being carried out by the University’s Robotics Club.
With more than 20 years of experience, GUYDRONES provides innovative and reliable drone services for the Government, the agriculture, forestry and environment sectors, as well as for housing, mining, oil and gas, construction and underwater operations.
Mahamad said the children were given an insight into the development of drones, and their evolution globally, and how drones are being used in Guyana to service different sectors.
“What we try to do here today is to give them a scenario of how drone and drone technology can be used now and in the future. As the future generation, technology evolves and use of drones has become so dynamic over the years, and in all category, drones have been working in. We have a typical drone here today, that we have been using in the Agriculture Sector. With a pilot and several other set up, this drone is used for spreading, spraying and doing other agriculture work. It actually has replaced the aircraft and some of the spraying guys,” GUYDRONES Vice President explained.
Mahamad said he has no doubt that in the future, drones will be used to service the Business Sector and even the Health Sector in Guyana.

“Sooner or later in Guyana, you will see drones start doing deliveries, Amazon has started in the United States. In Canada, it has already delivered an organ from one hospital to another. We know that there is a heavy traffic in Guyana and it is congested, drone technology will be able to solve that,” he said.
GUYDRONES Logistics Coordinator, Zakiya Bunbury said currently, Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo) is among the company’s clients.
She said in addition to the sectors that GUYDRONES currently serves, the company also provides training services.
“We offer a number of courses, starting from the basic drone courses where it cater for children under the age of 16 where we introduce them to the world [of drones]. And, we also have our private and commercial courses which allows you to explore drones, and we also aid in getting your license, as I said we are a licensed drone company,” Bunbury explained.
Other services include unmanned aerial applications, sales, programme development and after care.
