The Guyana Sugar Corporation believes that efforts may be afoot to sabotage its operations and the company is issuing a warning that the Guyana Police Force will get involved and deal with those suspected of wanting to disrupt the company’s operations.
In a statement, the sugar company which is already behind its production target, revealed that it has information that persons form outside of the company have been making attempts to encourage workers to use different strategies and actions to affect the company’s production and smooth running.
It is suspected that some sugar workers are being encouraged to damage company equipment.
The company said sugar workers need to be reminded that it is the same company that is providing them with a livelihood and anyone caught making any attempt to damage company equipment will be dealt with in the courts.
Meanwhile, the Guyana Agricultural and General Workers Union has raised concern about the company reportedly dragging its feet on negotiations.
