Jagdeo says security forces ready to address any disruption of election process

Warning that there will be consequences should there be any attempt to disrupt Monday’s elections, General Secretary of the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C), Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo on Sunday said the security forces are already on standby for any possible issue.

“The security forces are ready to take on anyone who tries to disrupt the peaceful poll in these upcoming elections,” Jagdeo said.

Mr. Jagdeo made the comments while addressing his party’s rally on Sunday night at Sideline Dam, Stewartville in Region Three.

His warning appeared to be a response to warnings issued by A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) and We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) that any attempt to commit fraud during Monday’s elections would not tolerated.

But Jagdeo is warning that there will be consequences for anyone who tries to “create trouble.”

Anticipating a massive victory for his party, Jagdeo said the APNU and WIN are no match for his party and its leaders.

“If we dealt with Granger and his cabal, we can deal with these two kangalangs any day, any day,” Jagdeo said.

Optimistic that the PPP/C will win the elections, Mr. Jagdeo said that citizens are largely pleased with the performance of the Irfaan Ali Administration, and the progress made to improve their lives in areas such as education, healthcare and social services, and infrastructure developments.
