The process to come up with six nominees to fill the position of Chairman of the Guyana Elections Commission is set to begin on Tuesday and will last for two days.
Opposition Leader, Bharat Jagdeo at his weekly press conference said his party will make the selections after consulting with Civil Society.
He said thee are a few persons who have indicated their willingness to fill the soon to be vacant post.
Mr. Jagdeo maintained that the party will be shortlisting candidates over the two days and will eventually send the list with the six nominees to President David Granger.
The President would then be required to choose one of the nominees to be the successor to Dr Steve Surujbally who is set to leave the job at the end of November.
If the President Granger does not find favour with the submitted nominees, the process will have to start over again and another six nominees would have to be submitted.
Dr Surujbally had earlier this year communicated his departure from the post to President Granger and the Leader of the Opposition.
