LIAT (2020) to begin Guyana service from Tuesday

LIAT (2020) Airlines has received the all clear from the Guyana Government and will be touching down next Tuesday at the Cheddi Jagan Airport to begin its new scheduled service to Guyana.

The airline will be operating flights between Guyana and Antigua with connections to other destinations. In a statement, the airline said the new route will offer increased connectivity across the region, strengthening ties between the Eastern Caribbean and South America.

LIAT sees the start of its Guyana service as a significant milestone in the airline’s expansion strategy, offering a crucial link between the Caribbean and Guyana’s emerging markets.

It sees Georgetown as a key destination for business and leisure travelers alike.

Chief Executive at LIAT 2020 Hafsah Abdulsalam, said the Guyana market is an exciting destination with immense potential for both tourism and business. LIAT believes that by launching the new service, it will be offering its passengers more options for exploring Guyana and its growing economy.

Guyana’s Tourism Minister, Oneidge Walrond, said the launch of LIAT (2020) is a pivotal moment for the tourism industry, as it enhances connectivity and opens additional options for travel.

Minister Walrond highlighted that while LIAT (2020) provides direct connections between Guyana and
Antigua, its extensive network offers even greater opportunities for travelers from regions such as Canada, Europe, and the Middle East to reach Guyana through the Caribbean.

The airline will be offering special promotional fares as part of its launch.
