
Officials in Guyana have confirmed that a man who arrived in Canada on the 26th May aboard a flight from Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago and was busted with cocaine in his shoes, boarded the flight in Trinidad and Tobago and not Guyana.
News Source has been able to confirm the man’s identity as Ryan Pinas, who is a 25-year-old French national.
Officials familiar with the investigations surrounding the drug bust at Toronto’s Pearson Airport, said the man boarded the Caribbean Airlines flight in Trinidad and Tobago. The flight made an in-transit stop in Guyana to pick up additional passengers before continuing on to Canada, a security official confirmed.
The official said the passenger and his bags never left the flight during the stopover in Guyana.
On arrival in Canada, the French national was singled out for additional searches and it was during those searches that 7.7 pounds of cocaine was discovered in several pairs of shoes in the the man’s suitcase. He was immediately arrested.
The Canadian authorities have not indicated what charges have been filed against the man.
