Massy Distributions Guyana is assuring that “there is no fake Fernleaf milk powder” and the manufacturer of the product is simply transitioning from one label to another.

In an interview with News Source, the Chief Executive Officer for Massy Distributions Guyana, Navin Thakur, explained that there is nothing for consumers to worry about.

The company has been forced to address the issue after a local customer raised concern on social media about the different languages including Chinese (mandarin) and English, that are on the product labels.

The CEO said Massy has been in the Guyana market for over 25 years and the product that has been around for all of those years has always had four languages that catered for the markets where the distribution was taking place.

He said regular customers would know that.

Now that the company is focusing on specific markets, the labels are being changed to suit those specific markets rather than the one label carrying all of the languages.

In the Caribbean region, the milk is only distributed in Guyana and St. Lucia, hence the reason the new labels will carry that reference, he explained.  

Some of the product that is already on the market has a removable label.

Mr. Thakur said that the removable labels that are on some tins represent products that were relabeled to keep up with requirements.  

He said that was done in the interim by the manufacturer as they moved to rebrand and relabel all of the tins.

Thakur said the Massy company is known for distributing only high quality products and so it has been paying attention to the concerns and wants the public to be reassured that only original Fernleaf milk powder is on the market.
