MP Jermaine Figueira elected as new Chairman of PNC/R Region Ten Committee

Ms. Bernita Primo will serve as his Deputy, while trade unionist Leslie Gonsalves will serve as the Regional Secretary. Another longtime trade unionist, Charles Sampson, will serve as the treasurer for the party in Region Ten. 

MP Jermaine Figueira elected as new Chairman of PNC/R Region Ten Committee

APNU+AFC Member of Parliament for Region Ten, Jermaine Figueira has been elected as the new Chairman of the People’s National Congress Reform Region Ten Committee.

Mr. Figueira beat out two other contenders for the post at the party’s internal regional elections on Saturday in his hometown of Linden.

Figueira had put together an entire slate for all of the elected positions on the regional committee. All the members of his slate have been elected to office.

Ms. Bernita Primo will serve as his Deputy, while trade unionist Leslie Gonsalves will serve as the Regional Secretary. Another longtime trade unionist, Charles Sampson, will serve as the treasurer for the party in Region Ten.

Current Linden Mayor, Waneka Arrindell was elected as the Asst. Secretary/Treasurer, while other members of the Committee are Gordon Callendar, Fern McKoy and Hugh Stephens.

Figueira will now serve as the region’s representative on the Central Executive Committee of the People’s National Congress Reform.

The 36-year-old Member of Parliament is also the Chairman of the Region Ten Youth Arm of the Committee.

He is well known in the community and is expected to lead the APNU+AFC’s efforts in the region to get more youths involved in the work of the party, while solidifying the party’s base.

News Source understands that he will soon launch a listening tour and town hall initiative across the region to understand some of the issues facing the communities in the bauxite rich region and make representation for those communities at the national level.

He has promised to be more connected to the people in his region and ensure their concerns are addressed at the regional and national levels.
