The suspects in the murder of remand prisoner, Neshan Jagmohan, have been identified but are refusing to cooperate with Police investigators, according to prison officials.

The three suspects remain in the custody of the Guyana Prison Service. Multiple efforts by the Police to question them have failed, as they continue to refuse to cooperate with the probe.

News Source understands that Prison officials have also recovered the improvised weapon that was used in the stabbing death.

Prison officials have also learnt that the brawl which resulted in the death, may have been triggered by an agreement by Neshan Jagmohan, to provide an improvised weapon to another inmate, who wanted to attack one of the inmates who is now a suspect.

The inmate who was being targeted, reportedly learnt of the plot and created an alliance with the other two suspects and carried out the attack on Jagmohan who had possession of the improvised weapon.

Other prisoners who witnessed the deadly attack have been asked to cooperate with the investigators. When contacted today, Director of Prisons (ag), Gladwin Samuels, said the probe is now in the hands of the Police and the Police will decide on charges that will be laid.

Neshan Jagmohan was a remand prisoner on trial for the murder of a businessman. His brother, who was also attacked in the brawl but survived, is also on trial for the same murder. The two had just returned from Court when they came under attack.
