New CEO appointed at Central Housing and Planning Authority

The Government has appointed Dr Martin Pertab to serve as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA), which falls under the Ministry of Housing.

Dr Pertab previously served as the Director of the Local Content Secretariat.

In a statement, the CH&PA said Dr Pertab was officially welcomed to the authority by the Director of Operations, Denise King-Tudor and other heads of the agency.

According to CH&PA, Dr. Pertab has extensive expertise in finance and economics, and public policy, coupled with significant experience in the public service.

He served as a Financial Analyst at the Ministry of Housing and Water in 2010 and subsequently served as Housing Economist at the Ministry of Communities from 2016 to 2018.

In 2020, he was appointed Senior Petroleum Economist at the Ministry of Natural Resources, and from 2022 to just recently, he held the position of Director of the Local Content Secretariat within the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Dr. Pertab holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from the University of Cienfuegos, Cuba; a Master of Science Degree in Economics from New Mexico State University in the United States; and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland.

The authority said it looks forward to Dr. Pertab’s leadership as the agency continues to advance its mandate of providing affordable housing and sustainable community development for all Guyanese.
