The life of a 26-year-old Police constable was snuffed out on Saturday afternoon along the Linden Highway as he lost control of the car he was driving and crashed.
The young man, Ishaan Caines of Coverden, East Bank Demerara died almost immediately after losing control the motor car. He was off duty at the time.
Police sources said he was heading into Linden around 3:15 on Saturday afternoon when his motor car (PPP 7936) suffered a left front wheel blow out.
Caines, who police said was driving at a fast speed, lost control of the vehicle as it flipped several times. He was thrown from the vehicle before it came to a stop.
He was immediately picked up by public spirited citizens and taken to Linden Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The man suffered several serious injuries about his body. An autopsy will be conducted early in the new week and will determine the cause of death.
The Police Force is once again stressing the need for drivers to observe the speed limit set on the country’s roadways and desist from speeding.
