ONE Communications to focus on “Many journeys, One hope” with 2026 Pinktober Campaign

The ONE Communications company today launched its Pinktober 2026 campaign to raise awareness of cancer, under the theme: “Many Journeys, One hope”.

At the launch event, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Abraham Smith, said this year’s theme forms part of the continuation of the fight against cancer. He said while steady progress has been made, that progress should be advanced this year. The CEO said the focus will go beyond slogan, but will encourage earlier detection and increased access to screening and treatment.

“And this year we want to ensure that that hope goes beyond words—this has to go beyond slogans and make sure that it turns into action and so today with the Ministry of Health, we are strengthening that connection between awareness and action. It is not enough to tell someone to go and get screened, we must also help them understand where screening is available and address and the fear and uncertainly that caused people to delay seeking care,” the One Communications CEO said.

Smith, who said he has been touched by Cancer through both of his parents, believe access to treatment and care is important. He said One Communications will therefore partner with the Ministry of Health to make more screening and mammogram vouchers accessible.

Additionally, he explained that while Pinktober traditionally focuses on women and breast cancer, this year’s campaign will target everyone affected by the disease.

“This year, we will also raise awareness around health and PSA testing, encouraging men to speak with healthcare professionals, understanding the services available and take their health more seriously. Cancer doesn’t discriminate based on age or gender or circumstance,” Mr. Smith said.

Smith said Pinktober has been an important part of the company, where thousands of Guyanese rally annually around cancer awareness, support and solidarity.

“So, this year, our invitation is going to  be simple, show hope: and you can show hope by getting screened or by reminding someone you love to get screened, by encouraging your father, your brother your husband, your friend, you can show hope by accompanying someone to an appointment and by supporting someone who is going through treatment,” Mr. Smith stated.

The annual Pinktober walk will be held on October 25 and the CEO expressed his desire to continue cancer awareness beyond that day.

One Communications Public Relations Manager, Jasmin Harris said Breast Cancer Awareness Month is more than wearing pink, as she underscored the importance of regular screening and protecting one’s health daily.
