Opposition Member of Parliament and former Minister of Housing and Water Annette Ferguson was today arrested by the Guyana Police Force after a complaint was filed against her by a senior member of the Guyana Defence Force in relation to an alleged cybercrime.

In a statement, the Police said Ferguson was arrested at CID headquarters.

The complaint filed by the senior GDF Officer alleges that Ferguson made a Facebook post that “falsely alleged” that the Officer will be in charge of a killing squad.

The Police said investigations are ongoing and on completion, the file will be sent to the DPP for legal advice.

News Source understands that Ferguson allegedly shared the article about an alleged killing squad to her page from an online blog. The shared article was later removed.

The Government recently announced the establishment of secretive regional security force that caught the National Assembly and the country by surprise when the government sought and got a budgetary allocation for its establishment.
