A taxi driver is facing serious charges after he was busted with more than 145 pounds of cocaine which was found stashed in a cooking gas cylinder.
On Sunday, Police narcotics branch investigators moved into the Parika area, where they conducted a search of the man’s Boodhoo’s Housing Scheme property as part of an intelligence led operation.
That search came up empty handed, but when the agents decided to search the man’s motorcar they noticed an unusually heavy gas cylinder in the car’s trunk.
In the presence of senior officers, the ranks cut open the gas cylinder and found the more than 145 pounds of cocaine.
The taxi driver was arrested and the probe continues this morning.
