An early morning gunning down of a West Ruimveldt man has left his family shocked and Police investigators baffled.
Dead is 31-year-old, Paul Rodney, of 530 West Ruimveldt, Georgetown. He was gunned down just before 3 o’ clock on Monday morning at Avocado Avenue West Ruimveldt.
His assailant is unknown but investigators found shells of a small calibre weapon at the scene of crime.
A statement from the Police Force stated that Police ranks on a mobile patrol on Mandela Avenue, heard several loud explosions coming from the area and went to investigate.
When they reached the scene, several men were observed running from the scene as more loud explosions rang out.
Rodney was seen lying motionless, with blood all over his body.
He was immediately taken to the GPHC where he succumbed 30 minutes later as doctors battled to save his life.
His body which bore seven gunshot wounds, is presently at the Hospital’s Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
A’ Division Police Commander, Asst. Commissioner Clifton Hicken, said based on evidence gathered so far, the man is not known to law enforcement, but checks are being made.
The Police Commander said since the incident occurred this morning, investigators have been on the case.
He added that the murder appeared personal with the number of gunshots that the victim received. It is believed that he was shot at close range.
