Police probing shooting of car belonging to journalist Travis Chase

Police investigators are probing the shooting up of a car owned by popular journalist Travis Chase, moments after he stepped out of it.

The incident took place on Monday night at Durban Street and Cemetery Road in Georgetown.

According to reports, just after 7pm, Chase stepped out of his Toyota motorcar to visit a relative, and while doing so, he heard gunshots while walking in the yard.

He said he was forced to run for cover, but noticed that the shots were being fired by a lone gunman, who made good his escape on a motorcycle.

An off-duty Policemen who was at a supermarket nearby reportedly witnessed the incident.

While Chase escaped unhurt, his car was damaged with three gunshots.

The Police said investigators were able to retrieve three 9mm spent shells and one live 9mm round.

Chase said he has no idea why someone would want to shoot at his car, and explained that he did not notice anyone following him as he drove to the location. A full investigation is underway.

Three years ago, a car belonging to the same journalist was maliciously set on fire while it was parked in a Government office building compound near to Durban Street and Cemetery road, where he left it at nights.

There has never been any arrest in that case.
