Investigators from the Guyana Police Force have launched a probe into the early Sunday morning shooting death of a man at Mon Repos on the East Coast of Demerara.
The Police said the dead man’s name was given as only “Shawnie”.
According to the Police report, persons in the vicinity of Third Street, Mon Repos recalled hearing loud gunshots at around 7:30 on Sunday morning, and seeing the man identified as “Shawnie” running out of a yard.
He fell to the ground, as the suspect whose name has not been released, was seen leaving the same yard.
Police investigators were summoned to the scene, and found the lifelesss body of the man lying to the side of the road. A number of gunshot wounds were noticed on the body.
The Police said they were also able to recover a 9mm spent shell as well as a live 9mm round.
A post-mortem examination is to be conducted on the body. No details were provided on the suspect.
