Three weeks after the Police shooting death of Golden Grove youth, Quindon Bacchus, Police Lance Corporal Kristoff DeNobrega is to face a murder charge related to the youth’s death while two other Policemen are facing obstruction of justice charges.

The Director of Public Prosecutions today advised the Guyana Police Force to proceed with the murder charge against DeNobrega and the obstruction of justice charges against Lance Corporal Thurston Simon and Sergeant Dameion McLennon.

The three are expected to face the Courts as early as Tuesday.

The DPP’s advice followed the submission of a report on the investigation into the Police shooting by the Police Complaints Authority which recommended that the three Policemen face charges.

The shooting death of the young father of one has led to protests over the past three weeks with the protests becoming chaotic last week when some vendors at the Mon Repos market were attacked and had their shops looted by a group of persons who were part of a protest march. The family of the dead youth condemned that action.

Bacchus was shot six times to his body with five of those shots to his back, according to the post-mortem examination.
