Political activist “Doggie” wanted by Police over assault and gunplay incident

Social media star and political activist for the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party, Bradley Sampson aka “Doggy”, is wanted by the Guyana Police Force after he was caught on camera assaulting and threatening a woman with a gun in hand at the Cuffy Square in Georgetown.

Sampson has since apologised over the incident and stated in a social media post late on Tuesday night that he will turn himself over to the Police by noon today.

The WIN party has also distanced itself from his actions, with Presidential Candidate Azruddin Mohamed stating that “the actions of Mr. Sampson are not in line with the values held by me or the WIN party. I wish to emphasize in the strongest terms that neither I nor the WIN party condone any form of violence, especially against women”.

In the video, Sampson was seen initially talking to the woman before they got into a confrontation and he was seen hitting her, while whipping out a gun from his waist at pointing at her. The confrontation was reportedly over money that the woman was owed by him.

In its wanted bulletin, the Guyana Police Force listed a number of offences that Sampson needed to be questioned about, including possession of a firearm without a license, threatening behaviour, threatening language, assault and possession of ammunition without a license.

The Police said its investigations are ongoing.
