An argument between a rice farmer and the owner of a herd of goats turned tragic on Monday when the farmer was hit to the head.
A Police report said the rice farmer, Chanderpaul Dhoman of Black Bush Polder, Corentyne was on his way home from his rice field when he noticed the owner of a herd of goats that have been causing havoc on his crops.
Dhoman reportedly complained to the man about his goats repeatedly destroying his crops and the two got into an argument that quickly escalated.
The goat owner was at the time imbibing with a friend and the two got into a fight with the complaining farmer.
It was during the altercation that one of the men armed himself with a metal object and lashed the farmer to the head. The injured man collapsed at the scene and the two men continued to beat on him. They then left the scene leaving the bleeding and injured farmer behind.
He was picked up by some other persons and taken to the Mibicuri hospital. The badly injured man was transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital then the Georgetown Hospital where he eventually died from the injuries today.
The two suspects have since been arrested and will face charges soon.
