The Sheriff Group of Companies, which is preparing to open the largest private hospital on the West Coast of Demerara later this week, also has its eyes set on the Berbice region.

In a statement on Sunday, the company announced its plan construct a US$100 million hotel and casino complex at Palmyra in Berbice.

The Government recently turned the sod for the construction of an international cricket stadium in the same Berbice area.

In its statement, the Sheriff company said the hotel and casino will have all the modern amenities of first world countries, and the investment will aid the local tourism sector and Guyanese nationals.

The company through one of its Directors, Ameir Ahmad, said the investment will result in the creation of hundreds of new jobs for the residents of Berbice. A speciality hospital and a shopping mall are also to be constructed by the company.
