Students of New Campbellville Secondary accused of using AI to attack female teacher

Two male students at the New Campbellville Secondary School are under probe after allegedly using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create a pornographic video of a female teacher and sharing the AI video on social media.

The alleged action of the students was reportedly in response to disciplinary action that had been taken against them.

The teacher has also complained that her home was bombarded with squibs and bricks last evening, and she suspects that the same two students were behind that attack on her home.

This afternoon, President of the Guyana Teachers’ Union (GTU), Coretta McDonald, told reporters that the students have gone overboard, and the teachers at the school have had enough of the disrespect and torment.

“Sometime last week, students used the face of a female teacher and they attached that to a porn video, and it was circulated across this school. Even at other schools, it is being circulated. Now, this here has gone pass the limit, let me say that…To compound this matter, the children went to the home of this teacher on Sunday night, lit squibs and threw at the teacher’s home, threw pebbles and stones at the teacher’s home, and that was reported to the police. The police apparently some of them, they don’t know how to operate; they don’t know what to do. And from one buck to the other buck they have been passing this matter. It is disgusting, the teachers are frustrated,” McDonald explained.

McDonald said discipline at the New Campbellville Secondary School is on the decline due to a number of factors, including a severe shortage of teachers and a breakdown of communication and understanding between the school’s administration, and the Welfare Department of the Education Minsitry.

McDonald contends that not enough is being done at the level of the Welfare Department and students have been returning to the school emboldened.

In protest of the recent attacks, the teachers planned a sit-in protest action today. However, it was called off following the intervention by the Ministry of Education’s Welfare Department.

News Source understands that the students and their parents have summoned to the school.

While the GTU President acknowledged the intervention of the Education Ministry, she said the Education Minister Sonia Parag must make good on her commitment in full.

“Our teachers are prepared to work but they cannot work when they are uncomfortable, they cannot work when moral is being thrown out of the window. They can’t work! So, madam minister it is time for you to do what you are supposed to do, and I would be happy if you can come to this school and spend one day, moving from class to class to class to class, and to teach a subject, whether you are going to do moral education which would be the simplest of all, moral education with grade 7,  grade 8, grade 9, grade 10, grade 11, come and sit for a day, then you will understand how teachers feel when they have to sit or stand in front of these classrooms,” McDonald said.

The New Campbellville Secondary School has had a history of gang violence.

In 2022, the Ministry of Education in response to reports of violent behavior by students, placed trained staff, including counselors, at a number of schools including the New Campbellville Secondary. However, by 2023, there was a re-occurrence, and the Ministry of Education was again forced to make an intervention.
