Accused of sexually grooming a 15-year-old girl, a Georgetown taxi driver was today charged and granted bail in the sum of $200,000 on the sexual offenses charge.
31-year-old, Daniel James appeared before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan and denied the charge made against him.
It was alleged that between the 12th December, 2017 and 18th January 2018, he intentionally met and communicated with a child through social media and coerced the child to consider sexual relations with him.
The Court was told that the taxi driver knew that the girl was under the age of consent, but he continued to engage in several sexual conversations which led to a plan for them to meet and have sex.
That plan was blocked after Police received a tip off and went to the place where the two were expected to meet. The two were found at the place and the man was arrested.
After bail was granted, he was ordered to return to Court on April 16, for the continuation of the case.
