32-year-old taxi driver Neville Thomas will have to face a High Court Judge and Jury after Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus ruled that a strong enough case had been made out against him in a rape charge.
Thomas is accused of raping a 12-year-old girl.
The offense was allegedly committed on the child back in April of this year.
The taxi driver was reportedly hired to take the girl from her school to her home.
However, it is alleged that during the trip, he diverted and took the young girl to hotel in the Diamond community where it is alleged he forced the child to engage in sexual activities with him and raped her.
The girl reported the matter to her parents when she got home and the parents immediately contacted the Police.
The taxi driver was arrested and charged following an investigation. He has been denying the claim, but on Monday the Magistrate who overlooked the preliminary inquiry ruled that the case was strong enough to be taken to the High Court.
No date has been set for the start of the High Court trial.
