The accused 62-year-old, Kirk Beaton appeared before Magistrate Esther Sam at the Charity Magistrate’s Court this morning and was not required to enter a plea to the charge.

Taxi driver remanded for murder of female security guard

One week after a female security guard from Affiance on the Essequibo Coast died after she was dropped home by a taxi driver, the driver has been charged with the woman’s murder.

The accused 62-year-old, Kirk Beaton appeared before Magistrate Esther Sam at the Charity Magistrate’s Court this morning and was not required to enter a plea to the charge.

 According to the charge sheet, it alleged that on the 15th November, 2021, Beaton strangled 52-year-old Indira Lall.

Initial reports of the incident indicated that Beaton who is a taxi driver would normally take the woman to and from her job.

He reportedly dropped her home on the same night in a semi-conscious state.  The woman was taken to a nearby hospital where she died.

The accused, Kirk Beaton was arrested after the post mortem examination found that the woman died as a result of manual strangulation.

The murder accused has been remanded to jail until the 12th December.
