Three adults and child killed after ingesting cocaine laced tonic

Police and Drug Enforcement officers are investigating a bizarre case that has left four persons dead and  young child in a critical state. The dead persons have been identified as Alex Baird, Natasha George and Simone Price. Alex and Simone were a couple. Their son Jahaquel Blair also died.

Pandemonium broke out at an East La Penitence house just after the five ingested what they thought was a multi vitamin tonic that was delivered to the house for a relative to take to the United States.

News Source understands that on Saturday, the family received a package from a cousin who wanted it to be given to another relative who was heading to the United States. The package contained a large bottle of a popular brand multi vitamin tonic. The relative refused to take the bottle to the U.S and even told them that she could purchase any multi vitamin tonic in the U.S. She left Guyana on Sunday  morning, having made her decision not to take  the tonic with her.

Early Sunday  morning, the family decided to make use of the tonic. The adults drank a full dosage and fed the children what they thought was the body  builder tonic. Moments after they ingested the liquid, they all started to feel ill and were rushed to the Georgetown Hospital where all the adults died shortly after being rushed into the Emergency room. The children were listed as critical.

Investigators believe that  the family may have unknowingly ingested liquid cocaine that may have been meant for a US drug dealer.

Relatives of the dead and critically ill persons cried uncontrollably at the hospital as they received the devastating news. Investigators are now hunting for the relative who delivered the cocaine laced multi vitamin syrup.
