In the Courtroom of the Chief Magistrate today, three men who were involved in that daring emancipation day shoot out with the Police in the city, were charged and remanded to jail for discharging a loaded firearm at police officers.
The three, Junior John, Akeem Jeriah and Carlton Bourne are facing a joint charge. However in Court, Bourne was not present.
The court learnt that all three of the accused on the 1st August, 2018, at Chapel and Norton Street, discharged a loaded firearm in the direction of Police Officer, Royston Mendonza and his colleague Lester Lewis with the intention to cause actual bodily hard.
It was further alleged that on the same day Jeriah had in his possession, one .357 Revolver Gun along with four matching rounds along with one spent shell without being the holder of the firearm license.
The Chief Magistrate remanded the two men in court to jail until later this month.
The third accused who remains hospitalised is expected to be in Court at that time to answer the charges. He is also facing additional charges of attempted murder.
