Travelers to US no longer required to be vaccinated against COVID

The United States Embassy has announced that the US is ending its COVID-19 vaccine requirements for international air travelers at the end of today.

Today is also the day when the COVID-19 public health emergency ends globally.

The US Embassy said that with effect from the 12th May, nonimmigrant air passengers will no longer need to show proof of being fully vaccinated with an accepted COVID-19 vaccine to board a flight to the United States.

The vaccine requirement was introduced in January 2022 in the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, which killed millions of persons globally.

Last week, the WHO announced that it would be ending the COVID-19 emergency.

Guyana ended its COVID-19 travel restrictions several months ago and the Government fully reopened the country just after.
