Turkeyen man killed in early morning fire

Police and fire investigators are probing an early morning fire at Turkeyen, East Coast Demerara which has claimed the life of an elderly man.

Reports indicate  that firefighters were called to 3rd Avenue, Turkeyen residence early on Tuesday morning where they were confronted by the house completely engulfed in flames. Two firemen after realizing that the man was trapped in the building were forced to cut through the grill work on the house and rush in. They were able to pull the man out. He was taken to the Georgetown hospital where Doctors later pronounced him dead.

He suffered burns about his body. The cause of the fire is unknown.
