Two airport employees arrested after passenger busted with 14 lbs cocaine
Two technicians attached to the Cheddi Jagan International Airport are in the custody of the Guyana Police Force along with a passenger following a Friday afternoon drug bust at the airport.
The three were taken into custody after more than 14 pounds of cocaine was found in bottles of rum that the passenger had in his possession.
Investigators believe that the technicians may have used their security passes to get the cocaine filled bottles through screening and may have later provided them to the passenger.
Investigations are ongoing.
Authorities are convinced that collusion with airport staff has played a big part in getting cocaine out of Guyana.
