Two persons lost their lives tragically on Sunday night in another accident along the Soesdyke-Linden highway.
A statement from the Guyana Police Force said the accident occurred just after 6:30pm on Sunday in the vicinity of Silver Hill along the Highway. The two dead persons have been identified as Deron Bobb and Wayne Clarke.
According to the report, Bobb and Clarke were passengers in a motor car being driven by a 28-year-old man, who lost control of the car while proceeding south along the roadway, ending up in the opposite lane. The car collided with another car, which was being driven in the opposite direction by a resident of Moblissa.
The impact of the collision result in the car carrying Bobb and Clarke flipping over. The two men were pitched from the car onto the highway. Emergency medical services were contacted and both men were pronounced dead on the scene.
The drivers of the two vehicles and other occupants of the two cars were taken to the hospital with multiple injuries.
The Police said post-mortem examinations will be performed on the bodies of the two accident victims, as an investigation is being conducted.
Drivers are being encouraged to practice safety along the busy highway.
