Two motorcyclists lost their lives tragically on Sunday night in a head-on collision along the Fort Canje Public Road in New Amsterdam, Berbice. The two dead men have been identified as 25-year-old Junior Malcolm Matthews and 29-year-old Stephen Tilloo.
A Police report on the incident explained that the two motorcyclists were riding their bikes in an opposite direction, both at a fast rate when the tragedy occurred at around 8:55pm on Sunday.
The Police said both motorcyclists were about to pass each other when they collided. The two men were pitched onto the roadway, receiving multiple injuries to their bodies.
Neither of the two was wearing a safety helmet. Shocked passersby contacted the nearby New Amsterdam Hospital, but both men appeared to have died on the spot.
The Police said post-mortem examinations will be performed on their bodies this week.
