Two motorcyclists die in head-on collision

Two motorcyclists lost their lives on Saturday night after slamming into each other along the Timehri Public Road on the East Bank of Demerara.

The two dead men have been identified as 20-year-old Romeo Reid and 31-year-old Leonardo Reevers. The accident occurred at around 9:30pm.

A police report stated that Romeo Reid was riding his motorcycle with a pillion rider to the back, at a fast rate proceeding south along the Timehri Public Road.

The motorcycle that was being operated by Leonardo Reevers was heading in the opposite direction.

The Police statement said Reevers had just overtaken a motor car at a fast rate when he ended up in the path of the other motorcycle, colliding head-on.

The men were pitched onto the roadway and were picked up by the Police and public spirited citizens and rushed to the Diamond Hospital.

Both riders passed away while receiving emergency treatment. The third man, who was the pillion rider on Romeo Reid’s bike, was admitted with multiple injuries.

The bodies of the two dead men have since been transferred to the Georgetown Hospital mortuary, awaiting a Post Mortem Examination.
