Venezuelan nabbed with cocaine pellets in mouth at Takutu Bridge

A Venezuelan national who was nabbed at the Takatu Bridge in Lethem with 21 small packets of cocaine in his mouth, is expected in Court today to face narcotics trafficking charges.

The 30-year old man, Eleo Geveiro, was stopped by Joint Services ranks while crossing the bridge late on Saturday night.

Initially, the ranks did not find anything on the man’s person, but when he was asked to open his mouth, he started to spit out the small plastic wrapped cocaine pellets.

The police said the man spat out a total of 21 packets of cocaine with a combined weight of 11.4 grams.

He was immediately arrested and told of the drug trafficking offence. The Venezuelan is being held at the Lethem Police station.

Investigations are ongoing.
