Two persons die in Mahaicony accident as car plunges into trench

The young woman was with her sister in the car along with another passenger when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it plunged off a bridge in the Mahaicony area and was submerged in a trench.

Two persons were killed and two others injured in a mid afternoon accident at Mahaicony on the East Coast of Demerara.

The dead persons have been identified as driver of the car, Michael Ross and passenger Jennifer Parks.

The young woman was with her sister in the car along with another passenger when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it plunged off a bridge in the Mahaicony area and was submerged in a trench.

The older sister managed to make her way out of the car along with passenger, Kevin Madray. However, by the time, the other two persons were pulled out, it appeared too late.

The dead young woman is said to be just 17-years-old. She is from the Berbice area and had traveled to Georgetown with her sister for a meeting at the Cyril Potter College of Education where she has been accepted as a new student.

Several persons rushed down to the scene to offer help. An investigation has been launched by the Police.
