The Guyana Police Force today issued a wanted bulletin for two men in connection with a double murder in Region One that occurred on Christmas Eve, but was not previously confirmed by the Police.
The wanted bulletin has been issued for 50-year-old Kurtland Damon and 35-year-old Thomas Kyte.
The two are wanted for questioning in connection with the murder of Sherwin Godette and Shawn France.
In a statement issued today, the Police said that on Christmas Eve night, a drunken row over a bottle of champagne at a mining shop in the Port Kaituma area became violent.
One of the men who was later found murdered had reportedly threatened a number of persons with a pair of scissors.
The brawl came to an end when another miner, who is a licensed firearm holder, fired a warning shot into the air as he came under attack. At least two other persons were injured during the scissors attack.
The Police explained that while Godette and France were walking back to their camps, they came under attack by the two suspects who brutally stabbed them.
The bodies were discovered and a Police investigation was launched. The suspects are still to be arrested and anyone with information about their whereabouts is being encouraged to contact the nearest Police station or call 911.
