Police investigators are probing the murder of a 32-year-old Berbice woman in a Georgetown hotel.

The dead woman has been identified as Romona Lall, of Corentyne Berbice. Her lifeless body was found on a bed in the Sunset View hotel in Kitty on Sunday midday.

The woman suffered stab wounds and other injuries.

According to a Police report, the woman and a still to be identified man checked into the hotel on Saturday evening, and were expected to leave by midday on Sunday.

Surveillance video cameras captured the man leaving the hotel on Saturday night and never returning. On Sunday midday, during checks of the rooms, a staff member at the hotel discovered the woman’s body. A broken bottle was found close to the body and is suspected to have been the weapon used to stab the woman. Investigators also suspect that she was also strangled.

The Police said surveillance cameras captured both the couple’s arrival at the hotel and the man’s departure. Efforts are now underway to identify and arrest the suspect.

The probe is ongoing.
