Persons found with forged or fake vaccine cards to face criminal charges

“There are a lot of complications that are associated with it, if you are not vaccinated then be honest about it, if you have such strong views about being unvaccinated, that’s fine, but don’t go, knowing you are unvaccinated and pay for a forge card, because once we catch you with a forge card, you are going to face the law,” the health minister said.

On the heels of a report that three persons were nabbed with blank covid-19 vaccination cards, Health Minister Dr. Frank Anthony has issued another warning to persons who are not willing to take the jab but secure the vaccination book through illegal means.

The Minister said persons who steal the cards will be charged with larceny, while those who attempt to change information on the card will be charged with forgery.

He said the tough measures are in place to discourage persons from getting involved in changing their covid-19 vaccination status.

“We have had a number of cases that have been reported to us, and we have called in the police to investigate those cases. In some of the incidence the police have made a determination, so, very shortly, you might see those persons appearing in court.  We are very serious about this because if somebody is unvaccinated, and they pay for a card, then that can lead to several problems,” the Minister said during Wednesday’s covid-19 update.

He also said a person who has a fake vaccination card put themselves at real risk when they seek medical attention for other illness.

Dr. Anthony said the vaccination program has been moving along smoothly and the Ministry has been seeing an uptick in its vaccination numbers with more than 305,000 persons already receiving the first dose of one of the available vaccines.
