Police investigators in Region Three are probing the murder of 24-year-old, Vishal Miguel, who worked as a Security Guard at a Shipping company located at Unity in Parika on the East Bank of Essequibo.
Miguel was last seen alive last Monday evening when he arrived at work to begin his shift. His body was discovered on Wednesday after the owner of the company visited the location and noted that a number of outboard engines were missing from boats that were docked in the river at the facility.
The body was discovered floating in the Essequibo River after a search was mounted for him.
A post-mortem examination was conducted on Friday and a gunshot injury to the head was listed as the cause of death by the Government Pathologist. There are reports that other marks of violence were noticed on the man’s body
Police suspect that the young man might have been attacked and murdered during a robbery of the facility sometime between last Monday evening and Wednesday.
Family members have called for a full and thorough investigation of the murder of the young man.
