Brazilians, Haitians and Guyanese arrested during police raid in Lethem that found ammunition and marijuana

According to a police statement, at approximately 6:30pm on Wednesday, ranks of the Lethem Police Station were conducting a search on a motor vehicle at the Guyana/Brazil Multi-Complex Crossing when they unearthed six 20 gauge cartridges and a shotgun component.

The Guyana Police Force has arrested several Brazilian and Haitian nationals and has made a significant drug bust while carrying out operations in Lethem, Region #9 on Wednesday and Thursday.

According to a police statement, at approximately 6:30pm on Wednesday, ranks of the Lethem Police Station were conducting a search on a motor vehicle at the Guyana/Brazil Multi-Complex Crossing when they unearthed six 20 gauge cartridges and a shotgun component.

The occupants of the vehicle, which included two Guyanese and three Brazilian nationals were arrested and are in custody assisting the police in their investigation.

Meanwhile, between 3:00am and 6:00am this morning, police ranks of Lethem Police Station conducted searches on several houses at Tabatinga, Central Rupununi.

During the search, a parcel containing 784 grams of cannabis was found in a yard. A stolen motorcycle was recovered and five persons including three Haitian Nationals (one female and two males) were arrested.

They are presently in custody assisting the police in their investigations.
