19-year-old sentenced to six years in jail for break and entry and escaping lawful custody

A 19-year-old man, who worked as a security guard, will be spending the next six years behind bars after he pleaded guilty to the charges of break and entry and escaping from lawful custody.

The young man, Jamal Halley, of Sophia, Georgetown appeared in Court on Thursday where the two charges were read to him.

The Court was told that on the 13th August, he broke into the Kaneville home of Onessa Gibson and stole a number of items. The other charge related to an earlier escape from lawful custody while he was under investigation.

When the two charges were read to him by Magistrate Judy Latchman, the accused pleaded guilty to both charges. The Magistrate handed down the six year sentence immediately.
