Three inmates of the Lusignan jail who escaped and were recaptured back in May appeared before a City Magistrate this morning to face charges related to their short-lived escape.
The three, Anthony Padmore, Sasenarine Bisnauth and Ghanesh Dhanraj all appeared via skype before Magistrate M. Mittleholzer and pleaded guilty to the charge of escaping legal custody.
According to a Police statement, Padmore was sentenced to 2 years in jail while the other two men, Bisnauth and Dhanraj were sentenced to 21 months in prison.
At the time of the escape, Anthony Padmore was serving a three-year sentence for trafficking narcotics.
Sasenarine Bisnauth was on remand for armed robbery charges while Ghanesh Dhanraj was on remand for murder. The two are still awaiting those trials.
