Hillfoot man beaten and stabbed to death after robbery

A 40-year-old chainsaw operator from Hillfoot Squatting area on the Soesdyke-Linden Highway died tragically early this morning after being attacked, robbed, beaten and stabbed by a group of men.

Police identified the dead man as Davanan Hosea. The Police said the incident took place at around 1:35 this morning.

The Police report stated that Davanan Hosea, and his brother Levon were at Raghoo Sports Bar at the Soesdyke Public Road, when a group of men hanging out at the same bar, approached Davanan, grabbed hold of him in the presence of brother, and relieved him of his valuables.

The brother, Levon Hosea, confronted the men and a brawl broke out in the bar between the brothers and the group of men.

The Police said the brothers managed to escape by running through the compound of a nearby Gas Station,but were pursued by the perpetrators, who managed to catch up with Davanan and started to beat on him.

The other brother again intervened and advised his brother to run in the opposite direction. 40-year-old Davanan Hosea later collapsed and blood was seen on his shirt. He was noted with injuries to his face along with stab wounds to his abdomen and chest. He was taken to the Diamond Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. Police investigators managed to secure CCTV video recordings from the area where the brawl started, and five suspects have been arrested.
