Police investigators on the East Bank of Essequibo are probing the murder of a 24-year-old Venezuelan man.
The dead man has been identified as Tony Birza.
A police report of the incident said the man and his brother were heading to their home at Ruby Backdam early yesterday morning after a night out at a bar.
According to the Police, while on their way home, the two brothers stopped to speak to two Spanish speaking women on the roadside and the 24-year-old brother, Tony Birza was approached by a man who was known to him. The two got into an argument and the police said it was during the argument that the man who has since been identified, pulled out an object and stabbed the Venezuelan youth to his abdomen.
The suspect escaped while the other brother raised an alarm.
The Police were summoned and the victim was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators are hunting for the suspect this morning.
