World Trade Centre (WTC) Georgetown was officially launched today with the intention of helping companies expand their business globally, while connecting with international partners around the world.
Located on High Street in Kingston, the World Trade Centre Georgetown offers trade related services and programmes that are designed to stimulate and strengthen trade between Guyana and the rest of the world.
Executive Chairman of WTC Georgetown, Komal Samaroo, said with Guyana experiencing record-breaking economic growth and unprecedented development, it is opportune for companies to expand their reach by tapping into international markets.
He said the World Trade Centre Georgetown will help local businesses obtain international standards to effectively tap into the global markets.
“Businesses need to start looking more aggressively at the international market. Now, the underlying factor to be successful in the international market place is to be internationally competitive in your business, is to understand the market place, is to understand all the regulations that go with international markets, is to understand the standards that are required and so, we thought through the establishment of the World Trade Centre Georgetown, we will have access to World Trade Centres in over 300 cities around the world,” Mr. Samaroo said.

Education and Research, Business to Business Networking and Policy Analysis and Formulation, including market access, logistics, financing, insurance and distribution services are among the various services being provided through the Centre.
“So, the World Trade Centre aims to help educate Guyanese entrepreneurs at all levels, micro, small, medium, even large. Secondly, it is aimed to help us find connections and contacts because in international market the key element or the foundation on which it is built is how do you find distribution partners, partners that give route to market so that the consumers can find your products to find in those markets,” the Executive Director explained.
World Trade Centre Georgetown is the first of its kind within CARICOM.
The license for World Trade Centre Georgetown was acquired by Demerara Distillers Limited in May 2022. (Svetlana Marshall)
