Police in Region Six are investigating the discovery of firearms and ammunition, which were found on Tuesday during an operation in Ulverston Village, Corentyne, Berbice.
The Police today said that acting on information received in relation to recent robberies committed at Rose Hall Town, Corentyne, Berbice, ranks contacted and arrested a 21-year-old construction worker of Alness Village, Corentyne, Berbice.
During the exercise, ranks conducted checks at a location in Ulverston Village where a cutlass sack was discovered in a Tamarind tree on an empty plot of land.
The Police said one 9mm pistol with four matching 9mm rounds, one AK-47 rifle with seventeen matching 7.62 rounds and one pair of gloves were found in the sack.
The suspect was escorted to the Rose Hall Town Police Station along with the suspected firearms and ammunition, which were lodged as the investigations are ongoing.
