Four arrested; weapons, money and motorcycles seized after robbery at Fast Food outlet

Four men, who are suspected to have carried out a daring robbery on Tuesday night at the Zesty Burger fast food outlet in Beterverwaghting were nabbed by the Police this morning.

The robbery took place just before 9pm on Tuesday as the business owners were locking up the outlet.

The four robbers arrived on two motorcycles and carried out their attacks. A police statement said two of the suspects were masked, with one being armed with a knife, while the other was armed with a handgun.

According to the Police, one of the workers at the business place was shoved to the ground and relieved of their phone, while the business owner was held at knife point and relieved of $400,000 in cash.

The suspects escaped via the railway embankment, but acting on intelligence, ranks from Regional Division 4C and 4A conducted an early morning operation this moring at a Robb Street address in Georgetown, where three suspects were arrested.

The three have been identified as 22-year-old Antonio Atwell, 21-year-old Joseph Dey, and 25-year-old Terrence Phill.

A search of the premises led to the discovery of two XR motorcycles, one bearing registration number CS 1130 and the other without a number plate.

Police said they also recovered two suspected unlicensed 9mm pistols: a black Taurus pistol without a visible serial number and a silver and black Smith and Wesson pistol bearing serial number BZT 5107.

Each weapon was found with a magazine and nine matching rounds of ammunition, along with an additional four magazines.

Investigators also found a black knife in a casing, two kitchen knives, a Samsung cellular phone, $122,000 in Guyana currency and US$5, items suspected to be linked to the robbery.

The fourth suspect was arrested at his home. He is reportedly 19-years-old. The Police did not release his name.

Police are also processing the suspects after they were found to be connected to other recent robberies.
