Prime Minister of Jamaica, Dr. Andrew Holness is on an official two-day visit to Guyana.
The Office of the President announced the arrival of the Jamaican Prime Minister this morning. He met and held meetings with President Irfaan Ali at the Office of the President just after arriving in Guyana.
“The Jamaican Prime Minister’s two-day state visit provides an important opportunity to further strengthen the longstanding partnership between the two countries and advance cooperation on matters of mutual interest,” a statement noted.
In a separate statement, the Office of the President said President Ali and his Cabinet held bilateral talks with Prime Minister Holness and his delegation, and the discussion spanned a number of sectors from education and energy to security, agriculture and housing.

“The engagement focused on further strengthening the longstanding partnership between Guyana and Jamaica and advancing cooperation on matters of mutual interest, including but not limited to education, energy, security, government efficiency, agriculture, and housing among other area of collaboration,” the Office of the President said.
On his arrival at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), Prime Minister Holness was welcomed by Prime Minister Mark Phillips and the Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony, who is performing the functions of Foreign Minister.
Prime Minister Holness arrived in Guyana from neighbouring Suriname, where he attended an Oil Conference.
