One week after a 12-member jury returned a guilty verdict against a man who was charged for raping an 8-year-old-girl back in 2016, the Trial Judge slapped him with a 30 year jail sentence today.
The man, Collin Cummings stood before Justice Simone Morris-Ramlall and maintained his innocence this afternoon as the Judge prepared to hand down her sentence.
During the trial, the Court was told that two years ago, Cummings engaged in the sexual penetration of the girl who is under the age of 16.
In Court today, his Lawyer offered several words of mitigation and a probation report.
But those words did not appear enough to save him from the 30 year jail sentence.
Cummings did not offer any words to the Court after the sentence and showed no emotions as he was led away to prison.
