41-year-old in custody for stabbing 20-year-old to death with broken bottle during row

Police on the West Bank of Demerara are continuing their investigations into the murder of 20-year-old Roberto Glen of Parfaite Harmonie.

The murder took place on Sunday night. A 41-year-old contruction worker has been taken into custody over the murder.

According to a police report, eyewitnesses told investigators that the two men got into a fight, and during that fight, both men armed themselves with objects an inflicted injuries on each other. The 20 year old was stabbed with a broken bottle.

Both men were taken to the West Demerara Hopital with multiple injuries, but Roberto Glen passed away while being treated.

The suspect, who had visited the Police station in the area to make a report about the incident before seeking medical attention, was taken into custody after being treated for his injuries.

The Police said a broken piece of glass bottle, believed to be the murder weapon, was recovered at the scene.  Several video recordings from CCTV cameras in the area are being reviewed. 

A post-mortem examination is to be performed this week on the remains on the 20-year-old as the probe continue.
